Karate Bundesliga 2025: The Punok Sen5 Team Impresses in the Opening Round!
On March 30, 2025, Frankfurt was the stage for a high-profile martial arts event: The Karate Bundesliga kicked off its exciting first round of the new season. Twenty teams – ten women's teams and ten men's teams – lined up to compete in thrilling matches. However, one of the major highlights of this opening day was undoubtedly the debut of the Punok Sen5 Team, which caused a stir with its impressive performance.
It was clear from the start: The Punok Sen5 Team, made up of athletes Ili Hellen, Emina Sipovic (Bosnia), Mia Mußweiler, and Marlene Lindstädt, was entering the competition with an extremely young squad. Especially for the two 17-year-old fighters, Ili Hellen and Mia Mußweiler, it was a special moment as they celebrated their debut in the competitive class. But anyone who thought their lack of experience would hold them back was quickly proven wrong.
Confident Battles and a Strong Statement
With impressive technique, tactical finesse, and a great deal of fighter's spirit, the Punok athletes dominated almost all of the day's encounters. The only team they were defeated by was the team from Memmingen. However, with an overall score of 59 points and only 17 points conceded, they delivered a remarkable performance – a clear statement to the competition!
Coach Christian Grüner was highly satisfied with the start of his protégés: "The youngest team in the field has presented themselves and PUNOK excellently in the first half of the Bundesliga season. Our goal was to steal a few points from the more experienced teams here and there. These four girls have exceeded those expectations with good tactics and a lot of fighting spirit. We will face some very strong teams in the second half, but we will be stronger and well-prepared as well."
Mia Bitsch Dominates with Bushido Waltershausen
But it wasn’t just the Punok Sen5 Team making headlines. Punok athlete Mia Bitsch also delivered an outstanding performance – this time in the colors of the Bushido Waltershausen team. Together with her teammates, she secured 11 out of 12 possible wins and led her team confidently to the top of the table. An impressive display of power that already has everyone looking forward to the second half of the season in May.
