A kickboxing spectacle of superlatives

WAKO Hungarian World Cup 2025 in Budapest – A Kickboxing Spectacle of Superlatives

Once again, the Hungarian capital Budapest became the centre of the international kickboxing world. The WAKO Hungarian World Cup, held in the impressive BOK Csarnok, was a tournament of superlatives – in more ways than one. With 4,682 registered athletes from 52 nations, this event was the largest World Cup in Hungary’s history – a milestone not only for WAKO but for the entire sport of kickboxing.

In an electrifying atmosphere, the world’s top athletes battled it out on 16 tatamis and 5 rings for glory, honour, and medals. The hall literally vibrated with the roar of cheers, the rhythmic thuds of scoring strikes, and the thunderous applause of the crowd. Technical skill, iron will, and tactical finesse defined the bouts at every level – from youth competitions to elite world-class fights.

Successful Weekend for Century Europe Fighters

The performances of the Century Europe Fighters team were eagerly anticipated – and the team did not disappoint. On the contrary: it was a veritable medal firework!

  • Jack Buckley dominated the -79 kg category and confidently claimed 1st place
  • Bulgarian standout athlete Alexandra Georgieva once again demonstrated her exceptional class, securing 1st place in two weight classes (-55 kg, -60 kg). A breathtaking performance that impressed even seasoned observers.
  • Slovenian powerhouse Tina Baloh was the face of the tournament among the women. She won gold in both -70 kg and +70 kg – a rare double crown that impressively showcased her versatility and dominance.

But that was not all: in the prestigious Grand Champion categories – where it’s no longer about weight but about the best of the best – Century Europe Fighters once again set new standards.

  • In the men’s division, Devon Hopper was crowned Grand Champion – a title reserved for the true elite of the sport.
  • Tina Baloh crowned her phenomenal performance by being named Women’s Grand Champion – a moment that made history in Budapest.

More Than a Tournament – An Experience

What made this tournament so special beyond the sporting spectacle was the passionate organisation, the international atmosphere, and the professional execution at the highest level. Century’s red banners were visible throughout the venue – a familiar sight for all who love the sport. Their presence not only emphasised their deep roots in the scene but also gave the event a sense of professionalism and unity.

For four days, the BOK Csarnok transformed into a vibrant hub of martial arts – with vendor stands, tech zones, meeting spaces, and above all, a community that lives and breathes the sport with heart and soul.

Conclusion: An Unforgettable World Cup

The WAKO Hungarian World Cup 2025 was much more than just a competition. It was a festival of nations, a celebration of discipline, fairness, and passion – and a major success for everyone involved. For the Century Europe Fighters team, Budapest became a golden stage of triumph. And for the spectators, it was an unforgettable experience full of goosebump moments.

One can only wonder how this level could be surpassed next year – but one thing is certain: Budapest 2025 has set new standards.
